Cold weather means layers, fall fashion, cozy nights-in with a glass of wine or hot cocoa, but also chapped lips, itchy and flaky skin that no one really wants. Here is a list of some ways you can help your skin feel plump and moisturised in the driest of the dry seasons!

  1. Make sure you use products that will help you lock-in that moisture and prevent your skin from loosing it over night or during the day. Clinique Moisture Surge and Bioderma Atoderm Creme are some of my holy grails when it comes to deep long lasting moisture for face and body.

  2. Serums are your best friend! Hydrating serums with hyaluronic acid are wonderful for moisture retention. This time of the year few extra steps in your routine might be worth that effort. These Drunk Elephant and La Roche Posay serums might be just what you need. Beware that Hyalu B5 has fragrance but as someone who has highly irritable skin I have to say I never experienced any negative reaction.

  3. No need to say, but I will, make sure you are staying hydrated at all times. During the cold season, as I generally feel less thirsty and reach much less often for my water bottle, I like to fill it with my favourite herbal infusions and warm water. That way I can stay warm and hydrated at the same time. What more to ask!

  4. Dry air means dry skin. In most of the places when temperatures drop low so as the air humidity. Dry air is not particularly good for our skin neither our health. I have started using air humidifiers years ago and I couldn’t imagine my life without one anymore. Try it and you will see! These days they can also serve as air purifiers and who doesn’t want cleaner air in their home. This Dyson Purifier and Humidifier is absolute gem worth saving for.

  5. Don’t forget your lips and even more your cuticles. If you call yourself “the dry skin type” you must know what I’m feeling when I think of my hands and cuticles after a long walk in the cold. Especially if I forgot to bring gloves! So besides my hand cream, cuticle oil is something I tend to carry around in my bag along with my tried and trusted Lanolips 101 Ointment that can actually serve as overall rescue balm for any dry or irritated spot!
